GAIN will have the monthly City Manager Meeting on the Fourth Wednesday of the month at 2pm at room 204 of city hall. Neighborhoods should come and voice any concerns.
One way the EEHDA brings together the neighborhood is through Block Parties. Currently held on the second Friday of the month until November with the exception of the hot months of July and August, at 1501 Post Office street at the “Cottage” and adjacent grounds at Darragh Park.
The East End Historical District Association (EEHDA) publishes a newsletter that is available on the internet at http://www.eastendhistoricdistrict.org/newsletter.html
There will be a presentation by the UTMB Center to Eliminate Health Disparities which has been working with a local committee representing over a dozen groups including GAIN leadership, the City of Galveston Families Children and Youth Board, and others to examine how to best support Healthy Neighborhood Development in Galveston. This presentation will highlight strengths of island neighborhoods, identify priorities to most improve neighborhoods, and facilitate a discussion of GAIN’s priorities for action.
The regular day of the month for the meeting was temporarily changed to accommodate schedules.
